Day #3 Cotton Eyed Joe

Doug and I are taking a musical adventure.

We are going to be doing a music video every day for one year.

Yes!

That's right!

Here's Doug playing Cotton Eyed Joe!

This is our studio page that will feature our students, former students as well as Doug and I.

We love music!

Music and our students add to our lives!

Be kind to one another and lift each other up!

Encouragement is where it’s at!

Let’s play some music!

It Rocks To Be My Student!

When my students memorize 5 songs
they get to pick either a pencil or a stone from the stone collection.

Once they have earned a stone,
the next time they have earned a prize
they can bring one of their stones back for Doug to wire wrap for them.

It can come in the form of a necklace or key chain.

This is one Doug made for a student using with the stone they had previously earned.

Beautiful!!!

It rocks to be my student!!

Miss Ava's Kids and Some Frolicking Tunes

This page is to feature our youtube channel with Doug and I and my music students.
We hope that you enjoy it and know that we have had a lot of fun making these videos.
Everyone has worked hard to learn their new tunes and prepare for recording.
I want to thank everyone for all of their hard work!

My name is Miss Ava and I teach private music lessons.

I teach private music lessons for
Piano,
Guitar,
Violin,
Mandolin,
Tenor banjo,
Irish whistle and
Hammered dulcimer.
Which instrument grabs your fancy?

While I currently have only been working with ages 7 and up …
I have decided to go ahead and accept some younger students.
For my younger students I will begin teaching ukulele.
That is the instrument they will all begin on.
When they reach a bit older age they will be able to choose the instrument that they would like to learn next.
You know what we like?
We like MUSIC!!!!!

We all work on our new assignments …
Learning the music …
Figuring out the notes …
The rhythms …
The singing …
We even memorize some of our tunes!
Students earn prizes for their memorization work.

Once we’ve got a good hold on our pieces,
We are then either ready to do our audio recordings …
Or …
They are ready to begin playing their piece with me playing accompaniment …
It just depends on what instrument they are playing and what the song is.
Once our audio recording is finished …
Well then,
Then we are ready to do our video recording.

That’s where our YouTube Channel comes in!
(Which we invite you to subscribe to in the next post)
And our Facebook page titled
Miss Ava’s Kids and Some Frolicking Tunes!
(Which we invite you to “Like”)

We also will be taking it "on the road" periodically and doing some performances at some of our local nursing homes.  We hope that we will brighten someone's day.

There is going to be a lot going on!
I am excited about it.

I was taught from an early age that when you play your music ...
what ever your instrument may be ...
You are a blessing to someone.

So ...
Whether you are a student of mine or not ...
Where ever you are ...
Get your instruments out and let's spread some blessings!
